My daughter from 6 made last week also a lantern from a glass jar but is was a little bit more colorfull! hahaha lots of glitter and hearts and birdsand but it shines so lovely.

No i have never been where you live in Italy..only seen picture,,,and it looks sooo lovly!!!
I have travelled in italy..by train...Rom, Brindisi, Venice. and so on!
I was wiht my kids in Venice last summer(my second time)...I love it...its like a faireytale !!Me and my houseband gett engage there for 18 years ago!So that town has a special place in my heart..evan tho i know many peopel dislike it!

I guess you had a machine to do the etching?
Once I used some sort of frosty paint to make it look like engraving, but it wasn´t a success.
