Rose...

Rose was an old lady who passed away last year at the age of 93...she never got married and she kept the memories of her farmer-family. Her hiers don't appreciate her old suff, so we (Paola and I) had the opportunity to hunt in her home and loft finding hidden treasures...

...when we went up in the loft we found two big wooden trunks filled of precious stuff...

...more than 20 sheets of hand-woven hemp...they've never been used and they are in perfect conditions....

...lots of hemp grain-sacks all hand-hoven...some of them have several patches because mouses often gnawed them in the barn...what's incredible for me it's that those women, after working all day long in the fields (they grew also their own hemp) they spun and wove the canvas by candlelight during the night...

...we also found this old white terrine...

...and some religious pictures in old frames...
This is only a little part of what we have bought for LC...we have lots of work now...washing and iron all the linen, taking photos, add the items in the web-shop...but it's always exciting finding old treasures which tell us stories of past times...I'll show you more finds in the next posts!

Ciao, Vale...all those beautiful linens and treasures have fallen into your hands for the best care and use of them. I think Rose is very happy knowing you will appreciate the personal things from her life, remake them into your lovely creations, and share them with others who will also love them and incorporate them into their homes and heirlooms.

I love how you give new life to old memories! I look forward to seeing more from Rose's collection, and what you will do with everything!

Have a fun week, with all your new goodies...

Ciao Bella,
when you want to find old treasures come to my "soffitta"....it is full of old things from my grandmother....mother....father....from an old old uncle of my mother who was an engineer on a ship and brought for example a very old handmade "tovaglia" with stitching from South America home as a present......I`ll take a photo and show you one day.....But bring time with you, my "soffitta" is big and full and there is only a small light and don`t forget warm coats because it is not isolated and very cold at the moment....
I sometimes will bring you a nice cup of coffee and some baked biscuits and in the evening I`ll bring you a hot vino brulè.....
while I am sitting with a wonderful cocktail in my warm an cosy sitting room.....
tanti saluti e bacci
Iris

ciao.
buon week end!
